How Much Does It Cost To Get Your House Re-keyed?

Like when a professional comes and replaces all the door knobs and dead bolts in the house and/or makes them all the same key.
How much is it per knob and what is their labor costs.

My locksmith charges a 60 dollar trip charge and $7.50 without master keying and 15 dollars per lock if a master key will be used. Also $1.50 per key.
Some will get the trip charge and hourly charge on top of the per lock fee. Shop around.
You can also buy multiple lock sets at the building supply that are keyed alike as well for about $30.00 a set for the cheap ones. Whatever suits your needs and budget.
Good Luck.

All he is going to do is go his supply shop (lowes and home depot) and buy a set that contains as many doors as you want changed.
He will then charge you for the parts plus labor…
You can do the same thing for MUCH cheaper…

I did this after I found out my husband was cheating on me.
The price depends on two main things:-
1. the area you live in
2. how many doors need re-keying.
It cost me $325 for four doors and the reprogramming of the garage door, 1994.
When he came home I was at the upstairs bedroom window watching him trying to come in after the garage automatic didn’t work. He saw me and said “Darling I can’t get in”
I said “I know, I had the locks changed” he said, “Oh! throw down the keys…” I said, “Darling, after 30 years your days are OVER”….AND THE REST IS HISTORY.
It took a lot of nerve on my part and I felt awful doing it, but I should have done it years before…..do not do it yourself, it will take hours and you might mess up the appearance of the doors. Bad for re-sale!!!!

~Depends on the quality of the hardware, the going rates for labor in your community, the rates of the craftsman you hire and the type of knobs and bolts you select. You could always save the labor costs by doing it yourself, but since you don’t have the ambition to call someone who does the work for an estimate, I presume you have neither the skill, knowledge nor gumption to try.

I live in Oklahoma and do handyman type work. I charge $10 per lock plus keys to re-key your old locks the same. You should expect to pay a service charge as well. I hope this helps.
