What Do I Need To Do To Get A New Bmw Ignition Re-keyed?

I have a BMW that has had the original ignition replaced. I did not replace it, a previous owner down the line did. A friend lost my key and if I get the dealership to replace the key, it won’t work because it’s not the original ignition. Will I have to replace the ignition on the car or can they re-key it? Who would I get to do this?

Just get a new ignician lock tubler that comes with a key. Takes about an hour to put in.

Are you sure that the lost key was not the original? I had to have my ignition replaced in a BMW and it still uses the original key. Whoever replaced the ignition might have adjusted it so that it would use the same key.

Replace the ignition and don’t let you friend drive your BMW any more. you friend should pay for at least half of the cost.

Call mobile lock smith and they might can make you a key if not then you have to replace the key ignition.

It would probably be easier to get a new ignition. I know that it is very difficult to reproduce BMW keys for some reason.
