Your hair must be 10″ long in order for Locks of Love to use it in a hair piece. However, if your hair isn’t long enough and you want/need to cut if off, you can still donate it to them. They sell it and use the money to pay for the creation of the hair pieces they donate.

Most require 10 inches, this includes
Locks of Love which provides wigs for children with permanant hair loss (predominantly alopecia areata) and
Wigs4Kids (which provides wigs for children with cancer.

Beautiful Lengths, which provides wigs for women undergoing cancer treatment.
12 inches
Wigs for Kids (not to be confused with Wigs 4 Kids) , which provides wigs for children with cancer.

I saw Hilary Swank do this on Oprah, and I believe she said the minimum was 8 inches.

I just looked on their website and it is 10 inches. Suprisingly it can be colored. I didn’t think it could. Anyway, it must be in a pony tail or braid, clean and completely dry.It must be placed in a plastic bag, then in a padded bag addressed

yes it s 10 for locks of love but you only have to donate a minimum of 8 inches at pantene beautiful lengths. I just chopped mine off last week for them.

its still ten.. from tip to tip. the reason stylists suggest it to be longer is a) to get a decent haircut for you.. you can’t just cut ten inches off and ‘Wa-la! you have an awesome haircut.’ after the pony is cut off, normally another half inch – inch needs to come off to create a great haircut. plus, when you pull the hair into the ponytail, the edges of your hair get overdirected.. so while the hair in the middle of your back may be 10 inches in the ponytail, the hair from your shoulders could only be at 9.
