We Had To Call A Locksmith For The Apartment I Rent. Is The Expense My Responsibility Or The Landlords?
6 Comments | Posted by admin in Locksmith
The deadbolt lock broke on my apartment door and not even the landlords key was able to open it. We had no other option but to call a locksmith. The locksmith said that the lock probably broke because it was old and it was no fault of mine. Is it my responsibility to pay the bill or that of my landlord?

I hope the locksmith put the old reference in writing. If it is old and you did not break it, then your landlord is responsible.
I am certain your landlord will try to dump this on you.

Your landlord should cover this expense.

I hope you at least tried to contact landlord before you called locksmith. Check your lease to be sure you are not obligated to pay expense if you do not contact landlord first.

Did you call the locksmith before telling your landlord ? If so you may be liable ,
