Transponder keys are used for radio transmission between the car and its key. They are factory made items for car that come along with the keys. Transponder keys allow the car keeper to start his or her car. The transponder keys make it possible to protect the car from thieves stealing it as the car can start by its transponder key. Such transponder keys are programmable. Programming transponders is easy so that a transponder can be made to start another car, provided that the programming is done at both the receiver and the transmitter.

Programming Transponders

The transponder is made of a microchip that is placed on the key. The microchip is manufactured with a unique serial number. This unique key makes transponder key locks virtually theft proof. Following are the requirements of transponder programming.

• Original keys-2 in number to program the replacement key.
• A key cloner to make a secondary key of the original.
• Cars EMC learning sequence. Determine this for your type of car.

The machine for programming the transponder is designed by many companies. Following are the general structure of the programming machine.

•  The machine reads the codec.
• The component actuation process is then carried out.
• The ECU Id and mechanical key codes are then fed in to the system.
• The machine performs a complete processing of the input – the transponder key id, cars EMC sequence and generates an output.
• This output is an executable program that can be used to operate the car using the transponder.
• The processed output program is then loaded in to the prepared microchip. The term prepared microchip means that the microchips memory is fully flashed initially before loading the program.
• This microchip is now fully operational and is mounted on the transponder.

Programming transponders is easier, the only thing that is needed is the necessary inputs to the machine.
