First question is do you really need to migrate to MySQL? Using MySQL server as a data storage instead of Microsoft Access offers several benefits: high performance, cross-Platforming, multiple users access, strong security system and much more. So, if you are constructing a complex multi-user system, you defenitiely need to migrate data from Access to MySQL.

But if MS Access data is used by a single user and the data file is simply copied to a new machine when it needs to be moved, there is not much benefit to using MySQL in such a situation.

There is the standard way to migrate Microsoft Access data to MySQL server. MS Access can export its tables to a variety of formats, including ODBC. Using this feature you will be able to export an Access table to MySQL via Connector/ODBC ODBC driver provided by MySQL AB. To migrate MS Access table to MySQL server right-click on the table and select “Export” option. After several steps your data will be exported to MySQL.

Is this method enough for you? If your MS Access database is small and does not have complex structure, the answer is “yes”. Otherwise, you should be aware that Access will not export index information with the data. You will need to build indexes on your tables manually after exporting them. Also there are some difference in data types between Microsoft Access and MySQL. One example would be the CURRENCY data type: MySQL does not have a CURRENCY data type, instead it creates a column with the definition DECIMAL(19,4) for the same purpose. While MS Access supports Unicode by defaylt, MySQL does not so tightly bind character sets to field types. Instead it allows each text field to be bound to any number of character sets, including Unicode. Again, you will have to specify it manually if you need to support Unicode in the resulting MySQL database.

Another approach to the migration problem is to use third-party applications that could handle it for you. The world’s leader on data processing field, Intelligent Converters developed Access-to-MySQL converter in order to provide users with accurate, fast and easy solution of that conversion task.

Although it is very easy to use, Access-to-MySQL provides enough capabilities to migrate very large and complex MS Access databases. At the same time the migrated results are accurate because the program does all necessary data transformation, supports all MS Access types and attributes, converts all indexes (including relationships between tables), handles multibyte character sets and much more. If you need more control over the migration or just don’t have direct access to the destination MySQL server Access-to-MySQL can export data into MySQL dump file.

You can learn more about the product at http://www.convert-in.com/acc2sql.htm

Intelligent Converters is working in data migration field since 2001. Since then we have developed wide range of data processing tools and gained rich experience in this field.

Installation damage is the very common problem in most of the Windows based applications including Microsoft Access. It could cause the several data inaccessibility like scenarios and error messages.

Fatal system errors are the most common example of the unexpected behavior of Access due to damaged installation. In such circumstances, your entire Access database could not be accessed and you may fall in grave situations.

If you suppose that the reason of unpredictable behavior of Microsoft Access and fatal system errors is application related, it could be the result of incorrect registry entries, missing or damaged system files and so forth.

In such grave situations, you need to perform reinstallation of Microsoft Access. It will fix all the application related errors. You can go through Access reinstallation by following the below given steps:

? Go to Start-> Settings-> Control Panel.

? Click Add/Remove Programs to remove the previous installation of Microsoft Access.

? On the first page, select Repair Access and insert CD of Microsoft Office

? Go through setup until repair is completed

? After completion of setup, start Access again and the do the same steps which resulted into the error. If you still get the same fatal system error or Access behaves improperly, you need to perform complete reinstallation of Microsoft Office.

Reinstalling Microsoft Office can fix such issues in majority of cases, but it also has a downside. Reinstalling the application sometimes can damage the data files and may make the situations worst.

In such situations, your MDB file may get damaged and you may fall in need of Access recovery. Access recovery is the procedure of retrieving all of the inaccessible data from damaged Access database.

Access recovery is potential using the third party applications known as Access repair software. Access recovery software are easy to use applications, having interactive and simple user interface. These software allow you to have quick and efficient Access repair in all possible cases of database corruption.

Industrial rope access has a huge expanse of potential applications for carrying out work at height. Often used onshore as a cost effective alternative to scaffolding or cherry pickers, the onshore applications of rope access range from building and façade maintenance tasks such as gutter cleaning, maintenance and repair, window cleaning at height, external vegetation removal, roofing and rooftop work, stonework and pointing in difficult access areas, painting and cleaning at height, bird and pest control such as the installation of high level netting, banner and sign installation, through to multiple industrial and construction uses, work on bridges, glazing solutions and maintenance on towers, Geotechnical work, as well as inspection and testing purposes. Similarly in the offshore sector, which in the UK and Scotland is generally on North Sea Oil Platforms, rope access allows work at height to be carried out in areas that other work at height alternatives wouldn’t be able to reach, and provides a safe and efficient mode of working at height for just about any required scenario.

Rope access techniques originated from caving and climbing techniques and were developed and adapted into safe access methods for industrial purposes several decades ago. The continuing evolution of these techniques has allowed industrial rope access to maintain the lowest instance of access in the whole access sector. In Scotland and across the UK, all aspects of work at height must be undertaken in line with British Standard BS7985 (2002) and the Work at Height regulations (2005).

There are several factors that make industrial rope access so useful for work at height tasks. Firstly the time taken to install access systems is minimal. The impact on the structures that work is being carried out on, as well as on the surroundings (including traffic flow and pedestrian access) can also be kept to a minimum. Work can be carried out safely in almost any scenario, and there is no height limit at which technicians can operate safely. This makes industrial rope access an invaluable tool for carrying out tasks in difficult to reach situations and locations.

Rope access technicians use a variety of gear to allow them to perform the tasks required of them safely. Obviously ropes are one of the most important, both the working and safety lines used should be low-stretch kernmantle type, between 10 and 11mm diameter. Descenders, Ascenders, Fall arrest devices, Harness, Pulleys, Carabiners, Cows Tails, Lanyards, Anchors and Rope Protectors are also all part of the rope access technicians arsenal, enabling them to get to difficult to reach areas and carry out the various required maintenance, cleaning, painting or inspection work.

Now that rope access is becoming more and more widely known and recognized as a safe, reliable, cost effective and viable work at height solution, the applications of industrial rope access techniques have an important role to play in the future of all work at height scenarios, from domestic maintenance to construction and the petrochemical sectors, not only in Scotland and across the UK, but also worldwide.

It’s not all that often that I get to write about anything that I can literally say saved my life. And I don’t think it’s ever happened that I have written an article where I was talking about computer software that was able to accomplish this.

But that’s exactly what we’re going to talk about today. Now, I’m sure that you’re not looking for the best remote access software because you’re as desperate as I was three years ago for a remote PC solution, but I think that this little review is going to help you nonetheless.

First, I just want to give you a little bit of background and what my story and relationship is with remote access software, and then we’re going to get into how to choose the specific software package that’s going to be best for your situation.

So just hang in there for a minute while we cover the basics and the background first. I promise it will be worth it.

My own experience with remote access software came about reluctantly when I had to give up my beloved home office and turn it into a nursery for my second child. I used to do a lot of work at night, and running my home-based business basically depended on having access to my computer whenever I needed it.

Now for any of you out there who happen to have small children, you know that they don’t often stick to an adult’s sleep schedule. That’s putting it mildly, right parents? Anyway, what I needed was a solution that would allow me to access my work computer whenever I needed it, without having to disrupt the new baby’s sleep.

The perfect solution? Remote access software, of course.

Now, I will say that I was more than a bit skeptical that this stuff would even work at all. When it comes to me and computers, Murphy’s Law definitely applies. There’s always some sort of missing driver or misconfigured file that conflicts with this other missing driver and that other misconfigured file and I usually have to spend hours on the phone with tech support before I finally get frustrated and just give up.

But I have to admit that with the software package I wound up choosing there was none of this hassle. It was as close to plug-and-play as you can get. And for me, that was pretty important.

I would say it took me definitely less than 15 minutes, and probably less than 10, to download and install the software and to be controlling my computer remotely. I’m not kidding.

If you’ve never used good remote access software, prepare to be stunned. I have to admit that it is quite honestly probably the most useful piece of software I’ve used in years. The only thing that rivals it, in my opinion, is some really good voice-recognition software. But that’s an article for a different day.

As long as you get a quality package — and we’ll get to where to find those in a second — you honestly shouldn’t have a problem whatsoever even if you’re a complete computer knucklehead like I am.

In my opinion, there’s only one place to go for reviews of the best remote access software packages you should ever consider. There are video reviews here on this Best Remote Access Software review page. There’s also info on how to try the best package for free. Also see this best remote access software article for more information.

There are so many reasons why remote access to pc is an excellent idea and now there are many ways of finding out how to do it. One of these reasons is the web conferencing appliance that allows enterprises to bring web conferencing in-house and remove the expensive, monthly contracts with service providers.

In order to efficiently use remote access to pc, you have to learn to control your pc from a thousand miles away, sort of speaking. Just think about the number of times when you arrived at college or at the copiers with your CD or floppy only to discover that your latest paper had not been correctly transferred from the hard drive and was not complete or, even worse, was not there. Then there are all those times when you have been away from home without a laptop and you would have given everything in order to get at your computer for just a few moments to get some contact info that you urgently needed at the given time. And the list of reasons why remote access to pc is a good idea could go on forever.

The wonderful possibility of accessing files and information saved on your computer over the Internet is extremely useful for play and work, as well as being very impressive. In order to make this kind of access possible, several technologies are now available and at the disposal of computer users all over the world. These technologies range from the shared file system built into most versions of Windows to the proprietary systems developed for software packages such as PCanywhere by Symantec. Generally, these technologies are divided into two main categories: accessing and controlling the desktop remotely and accessing files remotely. Remote access to pc allows you to bring the entire desktop of your home computer over the computer that you are currently using, while file access is designed to enable you with the access to your files from a remote location using the Internet.

Another great accomplishment in the IT field is, besides remote access to pc, web conferencing appliance. In order to correct and efficiently implement a web conferencing appliance, you need some specific features, such as netCollaborator that delivers absolutely all of the features needed in order to be able to conduct online meetings among remote attendees. One intuitive window will add in features like document sharing, e-mail invitations, polling, scheduling, and many more.

The uncountable benefits and uses of web conferencing appliance keep on increasing more and more every day for enterprises all over the world. Budget reviews, partner briefings, sales presentations… The urgent need to travel for every meeting is getting now more and more one of the IT “extinction species”. Spending money on conferencing products has reached today its highest peak ever and specialists are expecting the demand to keep holding its strong position.

Many IT products meet that demand and give buyers an easy administration of Web conferencing appliance and a fast deployment. The netCollaborator is the first Web conferencing appliance created by the industry that delivers a secure and plug-and-play solution and has specific features, carefully designed by IT specialists, such as:

• Fast installation – less than an hour

• Full whiteboard with annotation and drawing tools

• Scheduling with integrated e-mail invitations

• Polling, Q&A management and text chats

Living in the age of technology, we know how important is to have remote access to pc and also take advantage of the web conferencing appliance. Take your time and see what we have got to offer; it will certainly be worthy of your time and money!

When you run a popular blog that covers a ton of different topics that people get confused about, hardly a day goes by that you don’t get surprised by something that one of your readers comes up with.

Now, even though what I try and do is to look into popular products and services to find the best deals for my readers, every once in a while someone will make me realize that in rare cases I will overlook the obvious.

That’s kind of what happened when people started asking me about remote access software. I’m well aware that people don’t necessarily want to spend tons of time researching every purchase, so I really take pride in being able to check these things out and letting people know where I think they can get the best deals.

But now here’s where this gets interesting. I never even thought that I would wind up covering the topic of remote access software. The reason why this is so strange, and the reason why I basically gave myself a slap across the forehead when it was brought up, is because if it wasn’t for software packages like GoToMyPC, I wouldn’t be here writing this today.

Thanks to these little wonders of technology that allow you to access and control your computer from remote locations from down the street to halfway around the world, I was able to completely run my home-based business even though I didn’t have access to my home office or my main computer for a full two years.

So yeah, I think I know a thing or two about remote access software, and I’m pretty passionate about letting people know just how effective this stuff is, how important it can be for anyone who needs to access a computer but who doesn’t want to be chained to their desk all the time, and what a life saver it can be for anyone who depends on their PC.

Just some quick background — even though I run my little business from home, that still didn’t mean that I was going to be immune from the standard things that affect many new parents.

When my second child was born, since the only room available for his nursery was my home office, I needed to start making contingency plans because I knew my hours of burning the midnight oil in front of the computer were going to be over.

So rather than freak out about it, I started doing some research into various remote access software solutions — like Go To My PC, which I mentioned above — and decided I would put them to the test.

Most of the time, testing new software for me is like doing my taxes. I absolutely can’t stand the process, but I feel really good when it’s over and if I’ve managed to find something amazing (like a really sweet deduction in the case of taxes, or a beautifully designed piece of genius in the case of software), well then I’m pretty much ahead of the game.

That’s the way I felt after I got finished testing the software. I definitely did find one that completely saved my bacon and allowed me to give up my home office without giving up access to my computer or my business.

And the cherry on top was that I was able to find some sites where I could (and you can too!!) get a free 30 day trial of the package I chose, and get some great coupons where I saved some coin when I actually did decide to go ahead and invest in the software.

Here are the coupons and links to free trials of GoToMyPC that I used. Go to this best remote access software review page for video reviews and instructions, along with those coupon codes mentioned above. This Go To My PC article and this Go To My PC video are also worth a look.

RFID For Event Access Management

Event management is a rewarding and difficult business. The challenges include event and exhibit design, budgeting, creation of props and decor, security and accounting. One of the key components is processing and managing secure entry of potentially thousands of people to special events such as conferences, trade-shows, concerts and sporting events. How to handle admission to events can be an enormous job. Passes and tickets using RFID have made the task just a little bit easier and much more secure.

Issues and Opportunities:

Ticketing for exhibitions, conferences, concerts, sporting events, leisure parks, and trade shows share some common challenges but not in all cases. Here is a list of common concerns:

1. Authenticate attendees

2. Streamline registration

3. Eliminate attendee flow bottlenecks

5. Manage restricted area access

6. Attendee identification

7. Eliminate counterfeit pass/ticket problems

8. Reduce operating costs with unmanned control

9. Capture data for analysis

What’s Available

There is a wide range of solutions available for event access management. Some organizers do not require a high level authentication or validation capability and use simple printed tickets and passes.

When additional tamper proofing is required there is a choice of:

1. Tamper Proof Design

2. Serial Numbers

3. UV/Black Light Ink

4. Coin Rub Ink

5. Bar Code Security

6. Hologram

7. Sequential Numbering

8. RFID

RFID-The Next Level

RFID takes event access management to the next level. To start with, RFID gives the organizer the ability to uniquely identify each attendee or paying customer. An RFID pass can be read from a distance. Line of sight is not required to read RFID passes. An RFID pass can hold information about the pass holder. RFID passes can be written to. RFID passes can be reused. RFID passes can not be forged or duplicated.

Everyone is Unique:

RFID tags can store information. The information can be written on the RFID tag using one of the RFID readers. The RFID tag can be manufactured into a pass and take on different forms. The pass can be a label, ticket, Smart Card or wrist band. Information about the pass holder can be stored on the RFID pass before an event begins and additional information can be placed on the pass during the event. This pass holder information can be useful to trade show exhibitors by identifying important prospects. Pass holder information can be used by organizers to screen entry to secure areas at different times of the day or event.

Secure and Private:

Organizers can be confident that RFID passes have not been duplicated. By using strict distribution control of the RFID passes an event can be made very secure. RFID offers the potential to assess how many people will be in a particular place, at a set time. This information can be channeled into your business strategy, enabling you to focus your service more accurately and reap significant benefits for your business. Privacy is of course always a consideration. Therefore, RFID systems can be customized based on the needs of the conference. Occasions that deal with topics where attendees may want to remain anonymous would obviously require a system that is less intrusive. This is exactly why the solution is set up to be highly and conveniently customizable.

RFID can help you implement automated (hands free) reading. That will facilitate much faster movement of people with shorter line-ups. Turnstiles equipped with readers can be used to reduce or eliminate staffing requirements at some entrances and exists. Accurate data can be captured such as real-time and date and movement information. By integrating readers to an intelligent backend system access can be controlled to different areas at different times of the day to different pass holders.

Other Benefits of RFID Passes

a) Passes, such as for ski lift operators or leisure parks, can be manufactured to be durable enough to be used for extended periods of time such as an entire season

b) RFID tags are very difficult to duplicate, reducing the chance of fraud

c) RFID offers greater data-collection capabilities than other ticketing systems

Online trading of stocks offered many more advantages than traditional stock trading such as faster trade execution, updated market information and sophisticated market research tools. But for some stock traders, like day traders, online trading were not so enough, which is why direct access stock trading has its existence. In direct access trading, DAT or EDAT, the trades are executed in real-time with real-time market information. The process is very simple and is fully automated with minimum/no human interfere.

The major benefit of direct access stock trading is that it does not require any broker assistance. The trades are executed by the trader himself, giving him the full control of his money; also full risk. Direct access stock trading usually involves much less commission fees than online trading, is also offer liquidity rebates and slippage control. But this style of trading is not recommended for long-term investors or position trades and part-time traders, as the traders have to satisfy account minimums and trading minimums; other wise will result in penalties and inactivity fees.

Direct access stock trading is carried out through specialized stand alone trading platforms, the direct access or level2 trading systems. These systems are installed on computers connected to high-speed communication networks. Today most direct access stock traders trade from their home. With the level2 or even level3 market access they can monitor real-time market data like ask and bid prices, market makers involved in trading, and order sizes. He can begin his purchase by just clicking on his choice of price and entering his order size. Direct access stock traders, unlike online traders, can route his order to his choice of market maker. The market maker then matches this order and transfers the stock. The results can be seen instantly.

As trades are executed in real-time, direct access stock traders can react quickly to any profit making situation and also can limit their loss when market goes down. Most direct access brokers offer much more leverage to day traders and thus the trader can increase his buying power considerably. There are a variety of direct access trading platforms available, and one broker offering more than one platform, of different levels, is common. These platforms may have a monthly usage fee, which is decreased by the increase in number of trades as well as increase in volume per trade done by the trader. Most direct access stock brokers offer paper trading accounts for a limited period to test drive their software.

Lastly, direct access stock trading is not recommended for novice traders as well as doubtful traders. As most trades are margin trades, you are always on the risk of losing your money. Remember it is a broker independent trading procedure – so there is little chance of getting advices.

Praveen Ortec works for a direct access broker offering international day trading for stock, options and futures trading on 4 different online day trading software.
