Around the globe, every government knows that the control of information is the key to their power. Although it’s understandable, there is an infringement of human rights which creates this power that governments have. Especially when this control effects the everyday lives of average citizens.

The power harnessed from secrets comes from the sense of doubt that it creates. Should citizens be less doubtful of current ongoings and the future, they would have more power. This has been shown to be true throughout history. From Ghandi, to Martin Luther King, to Jesus of Nazereth, it has been proven how major differences can be made from a less doubtful population. And, our history also states clearly, that governments see this as a major threat.

With the explosion of interest in the internet, governments are trying to get a handle on the readily available abundance of information it contains. Many new media and current event sites have gone online since the start of this year. Also, the addition of bloggers and forums have allowed individuals to spread their ideas, opinions, theories, and verifiable sources of information. Such websites are giving everyday citizens an opportunity to shed light on topics important to society as a whole.

Take uPressed.com for example, a new website which clearly states it’s purpose is for the empowerment of all citizens around the globe. When speaking of governmental control of information, Kristie Lattrell, a spokeswoman for the site, said “When governments operate in secrecy or in violation of true justice, the population should be able to hold them responsible for their actions. A main problem is that the violations(which may seem small) are limited to particular communities, and filtered from the global community. Part of uPressed.com’s theme is to show these ‘smaller’ violations occur far too often, any every citizen can help before it effects yourself or someone close to you.”

Not only are are citizens rights violated by local and federal governments, but local and federal agencies make it a point to prevent this information from being widely known. China, for example, prohibits certain websites and sources of information from being accessed by it’s citizens. Countries which support more of a democratic society, goes to less of an extreme but, controls information to keep individuals from forming social communities. This is the main promoter of doubt, and lack of trust, by citizens for their governments.

And this lack of trust in our government is not unwarranted. Lattrell mentioned the Delta County case where a homeless mother was sentenced to jail for, failure to reimburse the court for her son’s stay at a juvenile detention center. Lattrell said “We need a community that will battle these violations of constitutional and civil, rights. We hope that uPressed.com will be the easily accessible place where all citizens can feel confident that they have support when governments, or anyone, infringes on their rights. Stories such as this should be heard, and each individual can make a difference” to ensure their governments abuse of power is in the open for all to see.

Lattrell made known that this in not the full purpose of the website, but it is what she hopes to be a major part.

Citizens not trusting their government is a global dilemma. It hinders progression and is a direct reason for the recent spur in new media and current event websites. Governments around the globe are harming themselves by keeping citizens in the dark.

Brian is the Director of uPressed.com, where global citizens can report news and participate in discussions.

Information about Window Locks

Windows is one of the most vulnerable parts of your home security. For glass can be broken, it is harder to secure windows than doors. One of the most common areas for breaking in the home is through the windows. So you need to make sure they are secure. Thus window locks are popular options for people to make their houses secure. Choose appropriate locks is very important for home security.

The most common types of window locks are: sliding locks, window latches, padlocks, hook locks, keyed locks.

Install window locks that can be secured with a key. Talk to a representative at your local hardware store to find which lock works best with your type of window. You can buy a matched set of locks so you only need one key to operate all the window locks in your house.

Downstairs windows, being the most vulnerable, should definitely have solid window locks that remain locked all the time (barring sunny days when you’re at home and want some fresh air, of course). You should lock upstairs windows as well, though, when you are leaving the home.

Most windows have a sash lock, which locks the sash from moving up and down. You simply turn the lever, and it’s locked. The only problem with that is that an intruder can break a windowpane, reach in, unlock it, and they’re in the house. Also, small children can easily get these open, which is a safety concern.

Sliding windows should be secured with a pin and jam in the slide track to prevent the window from being slid open from the outside. You’ll still want to use a lock for added security.

The size and weight of the window you are securing will be a big factor is determining the size and strength of the window locks you use. For example, sash and casement windows will require a particular type of window lock because of the way they open. And keyed locks for windows are more discreet on a large picture window, for example, but are less convenient to operate because you must find the key every time you want to open the window.

Another consideration is the theft deterrent factor. While a large, visible lock may not be the look you’re going for, it also doesn?t look appealing to a burglar. If a thief approaches a window with a visible security measure in place, they are less likely to try to get in. Speed is of the essence for burglars so anything that slows them down gives you a higher level of security. They also won’t want the attention that would come from breaking a window. For extra security, window locks are available that prevent the window from being opened even if the glass is broken.

If you want to feel more secure, you should install a window alarm for your home and it will sounds you when the window is opened. For more information about home security products, please visit: http://www.security2020.com

There is no cure for locked-in syndrome. Stimulation of muscle reflexes with electrodes (Neuromuscular stimulation) has been known to help patients regain some muscle function.

Several devices to assist communication are available. Other treatment is symptomatic and supportive. Good nutrition is also beneficial this condition. New direct brain interface mechanisms may provide future remedies. Providing physical therapy to prevent limb contractures. I am having difficulty preventing people from entering my apartment. I have purchased pickproof locks, but they still get in. I can only conclude that a locksmith is involved and is cutting a key for my locks. Do they have to know the brand of lock in order to cut a key? I had a open house today, but was not invited, if you catch my drift.
