If I needed a locksmith, say under an emergency situation, like to not let my husband back in the house and it was in the middle of the night to replace two deadbolts, what do you think the cost would be?

I recently locked myself out of the house and paid a $49.99 service call. Only the door handle was locked and not the deadbolt. The locksmith took out a credit card and in half a second, opened the door. He charged $125 to do this. He also fixed our deadbolt because the key would not go in all the way, hence, why it wasn’t locked. He spent more time on this and charged $18. How can $125 be justified to swipe a credit card and open the door in half a second. I have an overall ill feeling about this company. Anyone else agree, or am I not being realistic? I can understand paying more for having a deadbolt unlocked/door open, but not a credit card swipe!

My husband has been working at this locksmith shop in Florida for about two years now. He started out at $8.50 an hour and worked his way up to $10 an hour. We were just curious what the going rate was for a locksmith with two years experience that knew how to re-key, unlock, and replace locks on vehicles, houses, and random lockables, figured out master-keying early on, can give safes new combinations, and can program transponder keys. Is there something I can use which does not require a lot of hole drilling? I really don’t need the lock for optimum security, just enough to keep nosey roommates at bay. They wouldn’t go so far as to bypass a lock. Most likely I’ll just use it for the closet doors where I’ll keep personal papers etc. The lock will be for folding closet doors that open out, or a regular closet door that you pushes close with a turn knob. I just bought my car, and it was a steal for only $7,000. The only problem is that I have no power locks or windows, I can live without the windows but, I just dont like having to unlock my passenger’s doors all the time. I really do love my car, and it’s my first one, so I’m already attached.
Also, I couldn’t afford power locks or windows, but I might be able to manage adding them. Thanks in advance to anyone who helps!!
